Compensation for a cancelled flight
If your flight was cancelled with less than 14 days' notice you may be entitled to compensation and a ticket refund.
Check your flightArt. 5 of EC Regulation 261/2004 provides compensation in case of cancellation, unless notice was given more than 14 days in advance or extraordinary circumstances apply.
You can choose between a ticket refund and an alternative flight; in both cases the right to compensation remains where the conditions are met.

HOW MUCH YOU CAN CLAIM
The financial compensation (Art. 7, EC Regulation 261/2004) depends on the flight distance.

Events beyond the airline's control (e.g. severe weather, external strikes). They must be proven by the airline.
